Nick Orwin Headshot

Nick Orwin is the Emergency Planning Manager at London Luton Airport, one of the UK’s busiest airports where he is responsible for developing and exercising emergency orders, crisis management plans and contingency plans. He is an expert in aviation management with 25 years’ experience in the sector, and specialises in working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that plans are realistic and resilient. Nick is active locally, nationally and internationally as an advocate for modern, collaborative emergency response planning and has spoken at and chaired conferences around the globe.

As part of LLA’s Air Ops team, Nick has been instrumental in designing and delivering the airports innovative Safety Management System and is the co-chair of the IATA award winning Luton Safety Stack. 

Nick is the chair of the United Kingdom Aviation Emergency Planning Group (UKAEPG), a non-commercial group dedicated to raising standards of emergency response across the industry. The group offers mutual support, advice and mentoring to members, and it consists of emergency managers from airlines, airports, helicopter, rail, cruise and coach companies, as well as emergency response companies and industry regulators.

Nick lives in Bedfordshire in England with his partner, their daughter and their cats. Depending on the weather he is either curled up with them and a movie or videogame, or out running along local paths and canals.
